The Government Subsidy
Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR) are available for eligible families as The Australian Government provides families with two types of financial assistance to help cover the costs of approved child care – the Child Care Benefit and the Child Care Rebate.
It is important to remember that while Child Care Benefit is based on family income, the Child Care Rebate is not income tested.
Both subsidies are managed by the Department of Human Services (DHS). In order to receive either subsidy you will be required to register your family’s details with the DHS.

Child Care Benefit (CCB)
-
The Child Care Benefit is income tested and is usually paid directly to approved Child Care Services to reduce the fees that eligible families pay
-
You can apply for the Child Care Benefit online or in person through Centrelink
-
To apply online, visit the Department of Human Services You must be assessed as eligible for Child Care Benefit (even at the zero rate due to your family’s income) to get the Child Care Rebate
Child Care Rebate (CCR)
-
The Child Care Rebate (CCR) provides eligible families with a 50% rebate of their out-of-pocket child care fees, to a maximum of $7,500 per financial year per child after deducting the CCB subsidy
How do I claim Child Care Rebate
-
You will need to apply for the Child Care Benefit first. There is no separate claim form for the Child Care Rebate. You can apply for the Child Care Benefit in person or online. For online applications visit the Department of Human Services
